You’ve probably seen a lot of “buzz” lately regarding hemp plants and the many new types of cannabinoids that we are now able to identify and extract from them. CBD has been all the rage for a few years now, offering the benefits of relief from anxiety, depression, heart problems, sleep issues, and a laundry list of other benefits, without getting the recipient “high” in the process. That’s a pretty big benefit! But the fact is, to many people, CBD, compared to THC, is like drinking coffee without the caffeine, or wine without the alcohol. In other words, what’s the point? Why skip the buzz when the buzz feels good?

One BIG reason to skip the buzz is that THC is illegal, while CBD is not. Sure, many states have legalized the possession and use of marijuana for personal or medical use, however it remains an illegal substance under federal laws, and will technically remain so until such time as federal laws are changed. For some, that’s a reasonable risk. For others, not so much. Why risk it?

Another big reason to skip the buzz is that most THC products these days have been optimized to be stronger, last longer, produce more euphoria and contain higher levels of THC than ever before. This is super awesome if you are looking to get “stoned” and zone out of the world. But being zonked is not compatible with functioning in the real world. Sometimes we just “need to chill” more than anything else. Why use a wrecking ball for a job a hammer would do?

What is THC Delta-8?

In layman’s terms,THC Delta-8 is simply another THC form found in both hemp and cannabis. When we talk about THC, what people are commonly referring to is THC Delta-9, which is what gets you stoned when you smoke marijuana. The two forms of THC have different carbon bond structures which makes them slightly different when it comes to the euphoric effects they produce. Compared to THC Delta-9, THC Delta-8 produces less euphoric effects. And perhaps more importantly, it is different enough (chemically speaking) from THC Delta-9 that it is NOT considered to be the same substance. Or in clearer terms, according to federal laws, if it isn’t on the illegal substances list, then it isn’t illegal. Welcome to the THC loophole.
